COMPANY KOKER, BUXTON, Guyana, '97

COMPANY KOKER '97

This koker,  now inactive,  is located on the Company Canal, which once drained the backlands (or the principal farming area). It was once visited by Governor Sir Charles Wooley, in the early 1950's, at the invitation of the Buxton Village Council, to observe first hand the drainage conditions that were a major concern of the villagers then. Also, it was a popular site among certain young men who went there regularly to swim.
