PEARSON HALL '01
Located on Academy and Lovett streets, and built in 1924, this building was originally known as Newark Public School, housing grades 1 through 12. When Newark High School was built in 1956 and the upper grades (9 to 12) moved there, the building was then called Central Middle School, and was operated as such until 1981 when it was acquired by the University of Delaware from the Christina School District. Pearson Hall, named in honor of Edith DuPont Pearson and her husband J. Burton Pearson (both university benefactors) is today a major classroom and office building that houses state-of-the-art television and computer facilities.
