THE ACADEMY BUILDING

Located on Academy and Main Streets, this building is composed of three components built in 1843, 1844, and 1870.  Over the years, this building served as the home of The Newark Academy, the University of Delaware predecessor, Newark High School, the first public high school in Newark, and more recently the Municipal Building of the City of Newark.  Today the building houses the Office of University of Development, and is on the national register of Historic sites.
