ABOUT NEWARK,

Newark (pronounced New-Ark and not to be confused with Newark NJ.), is a relatively small city located approximately 15 miles south of Wilmington DE, and approximately 30 miles north of Dover, the state's capital.  With a present population of approximaely 75,000, its origin dates back to the early 1700's when it was a market town where farmers brought and sold their produce.  Since then, this town has evolved into a vibrant university town where the University of Delaware was founded, and a city that spawns not only this university, but also several major industries owned by E. I. Dupont company, MBNA (Bank), Chrysler Corporation, to name a few, as well as an impressive number of nationally recognized elementary and secondary schools.
